— Molly to Isaac and Esther.
|
Molly is one of Esther's friends and a supporting character in the prequel, Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2 as well a playable character in Mr. Hopp's Manor Escape. She was the owner of Miss Bo.
Appearance[]
Molly has shoulder lenght, light brown hair, dark green eyes, and a mole on her left cheek. She wears a pink shirt and pants, and white shoes.
Personality[]
Molly is shown to be a bit spoiled and superficial, thinking highly of herself as well having a bit of a temper. She is not very understanding toward Esther, having a propensity to tease her. Despite this, she is not an entirely bad person.
When given one of the three toys, Molly did not see anything unusual in any them, unlike Isaac and Esther. She even believed them to be adorable and cute.
History[]
Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2[]
When Esther awakens from her nightmare, irritated Molly exclaims that she and the other children are trying to sleep. Come morning, Esther talks with her Molly and Isaac, the former of which states that Esther woke them all up again. When Esther says she has been having the same dream over and over again, Molly suggests that she is going crazy, though Esther denies this. When the head matron, Miss Beverley, gives the children a box of donated toys, Molly gets excited. Three specific toys stick out; a tiger, a panda, and a rabbit. Esther says she feels she has seen the rabbit before, Isaac finds them unsettling, but Molly believes them to be adorable. Molly takes the panda toy and calls it Miss Bo.
Molly and Isaac meet up with Esther in the downstairs dining area where they decide to play hide and seek in the library. Molly snarks about Esther's appearance, stating that Esther's big head can be seen from anywhere. Esther sarcastically calls Molly funny and she adds that she is also beautiful and clever. When playing hide and seek in the library, Esther will initially be unable to find Molly. However, after Esther finds Isaac, Molly will be on the right of the lower floor, hiding behind a chair. Molly boasts that she is the best at hiding, though Isaac believes that she should not be allowed to move and Esther calls her out for cheating. Molly becomes upset by Esther's statement and Miss Beverley comes up behind and orders them to keep the noise down, to which they all comply.
After, Esther finds Mr. Hopp missing from her bedside table and goes to find it in the kitchen, she gets in trouble with Miss Beverley, she accuses Molly the next morning of moving the toy. Molly denies this, asking why she would touch Mr. Hopp when she has Miss Bo. Esther berates Molly for acting like a princess and tells her they all might actually like her if she didn't. Molly storms off in a huff and takes Miss Bo with her. When Esther tries to find Molly to apologize, she is nowhere to be found and Isaac disappears soon after as well.
Later that night, Molly is heard along with Isaac after Esther wakes up from another nightmare. They cry out to Esther for help and she goes off to find them. When Esther goes near a closet, she hears Molly and Issac who say that the Matrons locked them in there and that the key is in Miss Beverley's room. Esther eventually retrieves the key and opens the closet door. Molly and Isaac thank Esther but their faces quickly distort, grinning and oozing black liquid.
After Miss Beverly takes Esther down to the cellar and she escapes her confinement, Esther explores the cellar and is haunted by the Three Curses. Molly and Isaac seem to have become possessed by Miss Bo and Mr. Stripes. Both appear in front of Esther from within the darkness, being held by the monsters like dolls with Molly saying in a distorted voice "We just want to play".
Should Esther successfully make it to the Underworld, she will find Molly along with everyone else who was kidnapped by the Entity and Isabelle. Esther will battle a gigantic monster before defeating it and saving everyone who are all returned to the orphanage. Molly apparently has no memory of the events that had transpired, asking what had happened, and then agrees to play hide and seek with Esther and Isaac, stating that she will count this time. Molly also takes notice of Esther's necklace and asks where she got it.
Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 3
When Esther revisits her old room in the orphanage, Molly only makes a voice appearance within a flashback dialogue from The New Girl where she's answering to Isaac about how Miss Beverley only smiles when a puppy is in danger.
Trivia[]
- It's unknown what happened to Molly after the events of Mr Hopp's Playhouse 2. Whether she was adopted or left the orphanage. It may be hinted by the True ending she alongside her friends Esther and Issac lived a happy life and she may have even matured into a nice person which can be hinted in the true ending as she insisted on seeking this time and letting Esther hide. As originally she didn't let Esther hide due to making fun of Esther's head.
- It's unknown whether she remained in touch with Esther and Issac between the events of Mr Hopp's Playhouse 2 and 1 . Or if they remained in touch with her.
- It may be possible that Molly and even Issac predeceased Esther as they haven't been shown anywhere else after the events of Mr Hopp's Playhouse 2 except in Mr Hopp's Playhouse 3 when Molly's voice is only heard. Other than that nothing is mentioned or heard of her hinting she may have died before the events of the 1st game.
- This can be quite confirmed by her voice being heard as if a flashback or something Esther remembered Molly saying and that no appearance is fully shown.
- She may have died before the 1st game and after the 2nd game if she hadn't she would have been trapped in the Underworld and Esther trapped the Entity in the Underworld it would make sense she died before his release and wouldn't be held captive by the Entity.
- It's currently unknown if she and Issac ever met or knew Ruby or if Ruby ever knew Molly.
- Ruby may have known about Molly's exitance as the picture her, Issac and Esther were in was shown in Esther's house in the True Ending.
- She is the 2nd human character in order of release of the games to be wearing pink. The first is Ruby. Though chronologically she is the 1st human character wearing pink.
- She is the 3rd character wearing pink as Ruby was the first character and Miss Bo is the 2nd character (shown as an Easter Egg in the first game) shown to have been wearing pink. She is chronologically the 2nd character shown wearing pink as Miss Bo was created before Molly's birth and Molly was born before Ruby.
